The Origins
Humans are always searching for answers. While our species is not all knowing, there is a natural desire to want to find out more about who you are and where you are going. As such, there are many people who believe in astrology in order to make some sense of themselves and their lives. By definition, astrology is the study of correlations between celestial events with behavior on earth. Specifically, these correlations cannot be explained by:
• Gravitation
• Magnetism
• Physics
• Other Sciences
Basically, astrology is almost a form of “magic” that comes from the sky. A celestial event is any event in the sky. For example, the Sun rising is a celestial event, or any two planets appearing in the same place in the sky is a celestial event. The celestial event can involve any celestial body, whether it be the Sun, Moon, a planet, an asteroid, comet, star, black hole, quasar, or other celestial object. The list goes on and on.
Hesitant To Embrace
Astrology is nothing new. On the contrary, it has been used by virtually every advanced civilization for thousands of years. However, just because it has been around for a while does not mean it does not come without its share of debate. In recent years astronomy has become very controversial. Today, skepticism about astrology is as strong as ever, and there are many good reasons for this. Astrology has its roots in ancient times when less scientific methods were employed and superstition was rampant in many of these civilizations. In today’s age, people are always looking for things to be explained logically, and astronomy is not very clear-cut.
People are typically hesitant to embrace astrology because they know very little about it. Sure, you’ve likely heard the names of different Zodiac signs thrown around here and there, but few people really understand the true meaning. The only exposure that many people have had to astrology is reading the sun sign columns in the newspaper or a glamorous psychic astrologer on television. Thus, it is hardly surprising that astrology is generally not accepted as a legitimate and valid field of predicting one’s being and possible future.
Still Much To Learn
Even after all the years since astrology’s inception hundreds of thousands of years ago, we still do not know how astrology really works. There are many different views on how or why astrology might work, but there is not single conclusive answer. Nothingto back up astrology has been demonstrated to the satisfaction of all astrologers. Astrology is the study of the correlation between celestial phenomena and behavior on earth but it’s uncertain why this correlation even came into existence in the first place.
Regardless, the astrological signs generally follow the calendar year and correlate to the month in which you were born. Broadly speaking, the 12 signs of the Zodiac can be divided into masculine and feminine, positive and negative, or, active and passive. The masculine signs are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius, whereas the feminine signs are Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces. However, since the signs link to birth months, it’s possible for males to have feminine signs and vice versa.
Follow The Stars
While there may be skeptics of astrology, the Zodiac signs are not going anywhere. For just as many people who do not believe in what astrology has to say, there are thousands of people who read their horoscopes on a regular basis and believe very much in what they have to say. Whether you’re a believer or not, it’s important for you to follow the starts to your sign. At a minimum, knowing your sign will let you get a glimpse of your future next time you come across the horoscope section of a newspaper.
